He turned me on to BMW's a few years later when he bought this bike. It only took a couple rides on this motorcycle to make me realize I would enjoy my honeymoon to & through Canada on a BMW, rather than my TX650 Yamaha. I bought a 75/6 in 1980 from Brian @ BMW Motorrad and have been a happy camper ever since. Even picked up an '88 R100RS from Honz a couple years back, a little worse for wear after getting rear-ended last year, but is sits right next to the /6. Always liked George's /5. By the way, I still have the Haberman fairing off this bike in my garage. We can talk about it on the way to MotoGP next week!! I’m glad you got to meet Tamela. We’re all fans of hers here in Charlotte, NC.

Gotta love and respect someone who sets a goal no matter how ridiculous it seems to everyone (yes, an 8,000 mile cross country trip sounded RIDICULOUS), and goes out and makes it happen.

A group of us are heading up to greet her in Asheville on Saturday, to ride home with her to the finish in Charlotte on Sunday.
